About

OPENING SCENE

I was in my small rented office, late on a Friday afternoon. Early in my self-employed career.

Everyone else had already logged off for the weekend. I hadn’t. I was still there, pulling up my bank account, doing the math twice because I didn’t believe it the first time.

I couldn’t cover minimum payments.

Not because I wasn’t working hard. I was working constantly. The money just didn’t show up the way the bills did.

I thought I was doing everything right. And the math still wasn’t mathing.

THE TURN

That moment didn’t send me back to a steady paycheck. There was no steady paycheck to go back to, and honestly, I didn’t want one.

It sent me looking for something nobody was teaching: how to manage money when the money itself doesn’t behave.

So I built it myself. Tested it on my own income, my own slow months, my own version of the car-repair-out-of-nowhere setback. Fixed what didn’t work. Kept what did.

Twenty years later, I’m still self-employed. Still building. And the system I built in that rented office is the reason a slow month is a plan now, not a crisis.

WHO I AM NOW

AFC candidate (in progress). Financial Coach Academy graduate. Licensed to use the Plan-Ahead Method.

But the credential that actually matters is the one you can’t put on a certificate: I’ve lived every version of the problem I now help people solve.

Twenty years of studying personal finance, testing it on my own money, adjusting what didn’t work. I went from six figures in debt to a seven-figure net worth, not because I got lucky, but because I finally had a system built for how I actually get paid.

That’s not a brag. That’s proof it works.

WHY SELF-EMPLOYED, WHY VARIABLE INCOME

Money hits differently when you’re self-employed.

There’s no HR department. No 401(k) you got auto-enrolled in. No paycheck on the 1st and the 15th, same amount, every time, forever.

Most financial advice was written for people with a 9-to-5.

I don’t have one. If you’re here, you probably don’t either.

That’s not a footnote. That’s the entire reason Your Money Project exists. I’m not adapting mainstream advice for people with unpredictable income. I built this specifically for people with unpredictable income, because I am one.

WHY THIS MATTERS MORE THAN JUST MONEY

Money isn’t just money.

It’s where you live. Who you marry. Whether you take the job you want or the job that pays. Whether you say yes to the trip, the risk, the leap, or you say no because you can’t afford to find out.

It touches nearly everything.

So when your money is chaos, it’s not just your bank account that feels it. It’s your stress. Your sleep. The tight feeling in your chest every time a bill is due.

And when you have control of it? That’s not just a bigger number in an account.

That’s confidence. Clarity. A plan you actually trust. The quiet version of relief that shows up when you stop bracing for the next bad month.

That’s what I’m actually building with clients. The money system is just how we get there.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

I’m based in Littleton, Colorado. Three kids keep the house loud and the calendar full. And somewhere in the last year, we added a puppy named Moose, self-appointed Chief Chewing Officer, currently working through his third pair of shoes.

I love my clients and walking with them as they transform their relationship with money. I’ve worked hard to design a lifestyle I love, and my business is part of that, not separate from it.

Outside of work, I’m usually doing something active. Traveling, concerts, comedy shows, tennis, Orange Theory, yoga, pretty much anything outdoors- always looking to check the next bucket list item off the list.

Back in that office, I sat there and thought I was bad with money.

I wasn’t. I just didn’t have a system built for how I actually got paid.

If that sounds like you too, let’s build yours.

Stop surviving.
Start building.

Let’s Get Started

Stop surviving. Start building.
Your income doesn’t have to be steady for your future to be.
