Alright, let’s tackle the good stuff!
Ten things to do before the end of the year:

#1: Perform a budget check-up. Do you know where your money is going? Most people “kind of” have an idea. Review your spending habits; I can guarantee you’re spending money you didn’t know about.

#2: Create a plan to earn more next year: If you’re looking to get a raise or hit higher sales numbers in 2025, it won’t happen without a plan. Start working on it now to reap the benefits later.

#3: Shore up your emergency fund in a HYSA: Did you miss my blog post on “What is a HYSA?” Check it out here. This is a “no brainer” way to have your money make money.

#4: Use up FSA funds: FSA funds often expire at the end of the year. Make your appointments and stock up on FSA-eligible items for the new year. Don’t lose that money.

#5: Make sure your 401k/brokerage account funds are actually invested. This one may sound super basic, but you would be surprised how many people do not realize that their 401k or brokerage account is a holding place when funds are transferred to an investment account. The funds still need to be invested.

#6: Make health appointments before your deductible resets: If you have been putting off that doctor’s appointment, this is your sign to get it done.

#7: Max out tax-advantaged accounts: Make sure you submit all of your contributions before December 31.

#8: Rebalance your portfolio: If you manage your investments (and you probably should), you should have a standing date to ensure your portfolio is balanced to help you reach your goals.

#9: Make a plan to pay off your debt: Trying to build wealth while in debt is like rowing a boat with holes. Imagine having that weight lifted when you pay off your final debt. Is 2025 the year you get serious about getting out of debt? If so, ….

Any questions? Anything you would add to the list?
