If This Is the Year You’re Finally Ready to Get Your Financial Life Together…Congrats. You’re in the Right Place.
If you’ve decided this is the year you finally take control of your finances—congratulations! That’s a bold and empowering step forward.
But here’s the thing: You don’t have to do it all at once. Over the next 12 months, I’ll guide you through monthly action steps designed to bring more clarity, structure, and confidence to your financial life—without the overwhelm.
January is your foundation month.
It’s not about perfection. It’s about awareness, systems, and small steps that add up over time.
Here’s what to focus on this month:
Review your 2025 spending—honestly
Open your bank and credit card statements. Where did your money really go? What felt aligned with your values? What didn’t? This exercise isn’t about guilt—it’s about clarity.
Update your budget for annual + irregular expenses
Think beyond rent and groceries. What’s coming in 2026? Car registration, summer camps, holiday gifts, insurance renewals. Add these into your monthly budget now so they don’t surprise you later. If you’re a client of mine, we will continue to hone your Plan Ahead Method budget to reflect the upcoming year.
Prep for a “No-Spend February” (Optional)
Start mentally and practically preparing for a month of mindful spending. That doesn’t mean zero spending—it means no impulse buys, no extra takeout, and intentional planning for what you will need (groceries, gas, bills).
Use January to stock up on essentials, set goals, and join our Facebook group for accountability. We’ll dive into details next month!
Set your 90-day financial goals
What’s one thing you want to accomplish in the next 12 weeks? Build a $1,000 emergency fund? Pay off a credit card? Get your business finances organized?

Create or revisit your emergency fund
If you don’t have one, start with $500. Then build toward 1–3 months of expenses. This is your “sleep better at night” fund—start where you are. Eventually you should aim to have 3-6 months of living expenses set aside. If you have variable income, this is even more important to get funded ASAP.
This month is all about setting the stage. Getting honest. Getting organized. Building systems that will serve you long after the motivation fades.
You don’t need to overhaul everything. You just need to begin.
Let’s get to work—one small win at a time.
