Welcome to Month Two!
If January was about laying the groundwork, February is about refinement, intentionality, and protection. We’re continuing to build clarity and momentum without burnout.
Here are your key financial tasks for February:
1. Check Your Beneficiaries It only takes a few minutes, but it’s something most people forget to do. Make sure your retirement accounts, life insurance, and any payable-on-death bank accounts are updated. Major life changes (marriage, kids, divorce, etc.) may require updates.
Quick tip: Your will does not override your account beneficiaries. What’s listed on your account forms is what matters.
2. Review Your Insurance Coverage You might be overpaying or under-covered. Take 20 minutes to review your:
- Auto
- Home or renters
- Health
- Life: term life insurance only
- Disability
Questions to ask:
- Is this coverage still aligned with my needs?
- Can I get the same (or better) coverage for less money?
- Do I qualify for any new discounts? Can you get a pay in full discount?
3. Organize Your Tax Documents Tax season is here, and good prep = less stress. Create a folder (physical or digital) to start collecting:
- W-2s or 1099s
- Mortgage interest statements
- Investment account summaries
- Donations and deductions
Note: New 2025 tax laws may mean a larger refund than expected.

4. Prep + Start Your No-Spend February (if you’re participating) No-Spend February doesn’t mean no spending—it means intentional spending. You’ve already stocked up in January, so this month is about:
- Skipping impulse buys
- Cutting non-essentials
- Being creative with what you already have
Use the money you save to fund a financial goal: emergency fund, debt payoff, or your Roth IRA.
5. Revisit Your 90-Day Financial Goal How’s it going? What progress did you make in January?
- Need to adjust the timeline or target? Totally okay.
- Keep taking small steps.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about staying engaged.
Bonus Challenge: Create a Weekly Money Ritual Block 20 minutes every week to check in with your money.
Ask yourself:
- What’s coming up this week financially?
- What went well last week?
- Any unexpected challenges?
- Is my spending still aligned with my goals?
Remember: Awareness is the first step toward change.
Let’s keep building clarity, one step at a time.
You’ve got this.
