We are officially on the home stretch in 2024, and it’s the perfect time to celebrate your financial wins. Before we begin our year-reflection, let’s acknowledge the progress you’ve made. This is a “no judgment” zone, and the idea is to build on your successes and learn from any challenges. If you’ve achieved your goals this past year, congratulations! Let’s set some even more ambitious goals for 2025. Remember…
As Laurie Buchanan wisely said, “Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing.” This means that by not actively making changes, you are essentially choosing to stay where you are. It’s a powerful reminder that we are in control of our financial journey.
2024 reflection: Take some time to check the status of your goals. You can check your balances, review your debts, see how your investments performed, and review your net worth with my net worth tracker.

These questions are designed to help you reflect on your financial journey this year and to guide your planning for the next year.Â
- What went well this year? What were my financial wins? For example, I paid down my debt, learned to invest, maxed out my Roth IRA, etc.
- What could have gone better than you had hoped? Why?
- Did you have any significant life events that may have consumed much of your energy/finances.
| As we look towards the upcoming year, let’s set our sights on specific, achievable goals. It’s not enough to say, “I want to pay down debt.” Let’s be more precise: “I’ll pay down x amount of debt by June 30th, 2025. Or I will invest x amount by the end of the year.” This level of specificity will keep us focused and determined to achieve our financial goals.
What specific actions can you implement to ensure your goals happen? Maybe you:
